Unit 204

I learned about the Kulakane 25 years ago and decided to stay here with my brother. Also, my wife and I had visited the Kulakane and fell in love with it so much that we bought a condo the following year. Some of the same traditions that were enjoyed 25 years ago still go on today. The Pupu parties every week, the blowing of the conch shells every day, and enjoying a breakfast on the lanai, appreciating the gorgeous view of the ocean with the beautiful islands of Lanai and Molokai in the distance. The people we meet and friends we see each year make your experience even more exceptional. We have renovated the unit by supplying it with all new items, for example the bed, and TV’s are now new. We have added color to the unit. The outside wall, pool and landscaping will be done soon. We recommend the Kulakane for you so you can enjoy all of the wonderful experiences we've had here.

  Our family of 4 stayed in unit 204 for 9 nights in July 2024. We loved the location and the view! The condo had all the amenities we needed, including cooler, beach chairs, beach towels. Only improvements we'd recommend are: replacing the sofabed as it is old and squeaky, update items/areas ie. bathroom door doesn't close well, burnt out lightbulbs, the 4 beach umbrellas are all cheap and old, black out curtains/blinds in bedroom would be nice, plug-in fans were too dusty to use, condo was clean but not deep cleaned ie. edges of counters were sticky, bathroom walls had floss chunkies, etc. Note there is no AC in the unit but the breeze was good enough. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would definitely return! Mahalo to Debbie for timely responses to all my queries.

  Have stayed in Unit 204 several times over the years and always enjoy the stay. Very well equipped for cooking, snorkeling and relaxing. Bathroom is set up well. Very comfortable stay. The outside deck is set up well. Newer'giant' TV for those interested. Good to support West Maui at this time.

  The property managers were welcoming and helpful. As soon as soon as you walk into the condo, you see the beautiful water view. There is still construction of the sea wall going on but it really didn’t take too much away from the view. The condo was clean but it did need quite a bit of updating. The furniture was dated as were the appliances. We really only had one serious issue staying at this condo. The bed. When you go on vacation you want to get some good rest. The bed is awful it seemed like it could be original to the condo. We tried it the first night but it was like sleeping on a box spring. The second night we tried the pull-out couch it too was uncomfortable. Unfortunately we didn’t get any good sleep on this trip but we enjoyed ourselves just the same! If the condo had decent beds we would have given it 10 stars!

  Nice unit. Great location.
  Under normal stay this is a good unit. However with the retaining wall under construction and having a very large generator out my lani I would not recommend this unit and would have asked for a larger discount.
  Bathroom sink had not hot water, which I reported two times.. I surely hope this has been repaired.

  We have vacationed in Maui for over 20 years. This was our second time staying in the Kulakane complex. We enjoyed ourselves both times although staying in different units each time. Located in Honokawai all the units face the ocean with superb views of the ocean and the islands of Lanai and Molokai from your private deck. Wifi and cable television are available in most if not all units. The units are equipped with full kitchens; having a stove, refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, plates and cooking utensils. This part of the island with its' breezes is refreshingly a bit cooler than the not too distant town of Lahaina which is about a 10 minute drive from here. Kaanapali resort area is about a 5 minute drive. Kapalua beach is one of best beaches to swim and snorkel and is abut a 7 minute drive. The complex has a swimming pool and huge sea turtles frequently lunch on seaweed on the reef in front. The building and grounds are kept clean and the management staff are very responsive and pleasant to deal with. There are 2 barbecue grills available that are cleaned daily. There is also a coin operated laundry room. At sunset, Tony leads all interested guests in blowing Conch shells to ring out the day. On Friday evenings there is a potluck where guests can socialize and bring their favorite dish to share. A health food store, farmers market, food trucks, restaurants and a grocery store are about a 5 minute walk from the condo. All in all a very nice place to stay and at a reasonable price.

  Excellent stay at Kulakane on Maui. I have visited Maui 1-3 yearly for last 20 years and tried Kulakane for first time. Great service from on-site staff. Condo was in very good condition. On-site laundry facility was clean and in good working order. On-site 'beach' facilities were adequate. There is some property 'construction' going on with their sea-wall but no work was happening while I was there. I will go back to Kulakane as a frequent visitor to West Maui.

  Clean and spacious apartment. The kitchen was well equipped, the bedroom has a walking closet and the balcony was the perfect place to have breakfast and dinner. The place was really clean and close to lots of interesting places in Maui. Lots of beaches were nearby and the neighborhood is plenty of restaurants and groceries. We recommend this place to couples. The only problem we had was that our wifi was not working. They gave us the possibility to get connected to a wifi close by but the signal was terrible. I hope they will take care of that. For the rest, awesome experience and we hope to go back soon.

  The view was wonderful and we got to watch a family of honu (turtles) playing and eating from our balcony.
  But there was a big piece of dirt on the bed, and the floor looked like it had not been swept. I was shocked since there was a $120 cleaning fee! The office was closed when we got there otherwise I would have asked the maid to comeback. Also the door stop was in 2 pieces and 2 of the mail lights were bert out.

  Staying at the KulaKane was truly an incredible experience. From the moment you walk into the condo, the ocean view is grand and sweeping - completely unreal. The ocean is so close it sounds like the waves are crashing inside, and it is pure bliss. We sat on the porch for hours watching the whales and enjoying the Maui air. The condo is perfectly located, and you can walk just about anywhere you like. Condo was super clean and had every single thing we needed for our stay. Debbie in the office was wonderful. We really couldn't have asked for anything more, and we cannot wait to come back.

  The rental was always fun to return back to after a long day out. Everything was available, clean, neat and easy to get to. The view was incredible! The sounds of the waves crashing and aromas of Maui are just wonderful!
  The only thing we had an issue with was the low quality of the entire bathroom. The toilet seat was always coming loose even after tightening. It had a big melted burn mark on it which indicates that it's been a problem for quite some time. The shower had very low water pressure and one of the two shower heads did not even work. The mirror was delaminating. Housekeeping needs to be more aware of these issues and notify management and not leave it up to the guest to report.
  Still a five star experience for me!

  We stayed in unit 204 and we were not particularly happy with it. The bed was so poor that we moved the mattress to the living room each night to sleep. The shower door was broken, but the management office fixed that right away. There were multiple light bulbs out, which wasn't a big deal at all, but on top of the other issues was an added annoyance. We tried snorkeling, but the fins we found with the unit were broken. On a positive note, the location is excellent, we saw turtles swimming right out in front of the property and we could also see whales from the property.
